Two important matches happened in the Africa Cup of Nation’s second day where Egypt faced Nigeria and the current champions Algeria faced Sierra Leone. Both games gave a bit of surprise at the end. Nigeria beat Eygpt for a single goal, and Sierra Leone held Algeria on a goalless draw. It will be a massive achievement for Sierra Leone as they did not allow the current champions to grab all three points. Doing football betting in tournaments is a good idea.

Nigeria’s performance against Eygpt was one of the best performances, and they would have added more goals. Kelechi Iheanacho’s excellent first-half goal handed Nigeria a deserved 1-0 victory over Egypt. After 30 minutes into the game, the Leicester City forward scored a half volley from the edge of the box. Mohammed Salah was not able to save his team from a defeat. Just like the team’s performance, he was also disappointing.

In the 70th minute, Salah got a chance to equalise. But his shot did not have much power to beat the goalkeeper. Considering his form in the English Premier League this season, many had expected Mohamed Salah to produce something special in his side’s opening group game. But Nigeria managed to keep the Egypt captain quiet for the majority of the match.

Kelechi Iheanacho has now scored 12 goals in 39 games for his country.
However, today was his first in a major competition for Nigeria. Wilfred Ndidi was particularly impressive for Nigeria, impressively dominating the midfield and breaking Egypt’s potential attacks.

Egypt, who have won the tournament on seven previous occasions, will look to bounce back against Guinea-Bissau in its next match while Nigeria plays Sudan.

Algeria vs Sierra Leone gave us the surprise result. It was an uninspiring start to the defence of Algeria’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Douala on Tuesday. Sierra Leone is playing in their first Cup of Nations since 1996 and only their third ever, and came up against an Algeria team unbeaten since 2018. Algeria was expected to get their Group E campaign at the tournament in Cameroon off to an easy start against minnows Sierra Leone.

Sierra Leone goalkeeper Mohamed Kamara celebrated the result of the Group E game at Japoma Stadium in Douala as if it was a win. He was on top form in the match, and Algeria could not find the back of the net.

Algeria came close to opening the score in the second minute as Riyad Mahrez fed Islam Slimani, who went round the Sierra Leone goalkeeper but ran out of room to try and find the target from a tight angle.
