According to a French source, Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe has been urged to join Liverpool.
El Pais claims Mbappe’s ‘most respected football counsellor,’ his uncle Pierre Mbappe, considered the Reds as the ‘most fitting destination’ for him.
According to the report, Liverpool has been in contact with Mbappe’s family for several years.
Mbappe has been in excellent form for Christophe Galtier’s side this season, scoring 12 goals in 14 games across all competitions – and was linked with a move to Anfield just last week.
According to a Spanish newspaper, Mbappe informed the French giants that he wanted to leave in July, amid strong interest from Real Madrid, which bid £154 million for the 23-year-old in the summer before he signed a new contract in Paris.
The report from Marca claims that the forward now wants to leave in January as his relationship with the French club is ‘completely broken’ – but he will not be allowed to join Madrid and his only feasible option could be Liverpool.
But speaking at the weekend Mbappe dismissed claims he is unhappy with the French side. He said: “I have not asked to leave Paris Saint-Germain in January. I’m not furious with the club, it’s not true.
”I didn’t understand why the story came out on the day of a game. I was as shocked as everyone. People can think I was involved but I wasn’t at all.”
Neymar-Mbappe war continues
The feud between Neymar and Kylian Mbappe does not appear to be over, at least not in the near future.
And it is that the Brazilian has returned to ‘disrespect’ his Paris Saint-Germain, this time with the help of Vinicius.
The Brazilian praised Karim Benzema for winning the Ballon d’Or while criticising Vinicius for not making the final podium.
“Benzema deserved it, top player!!!! Now, that Vini is the eighth is not possible… Minimum in the top three,” Ney said on Twitter.
Mbappe was sixth.
Their relationship is known to be strained, therefore Neymar’s statements could be construed as another jab at his teammate after a string of clashes in recent months.
When it appeared that both had calmed down, this may lead to another conflict within the locker room.
