The Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans moved to the Premier League club Leicester City in 2019 winter transfer in a loan deal from Monaco for six months. Within six months, he convinced the club management that he was a player for the future. In July 2019, Tielemans completed a permanent move to Leicester City on a four-year deal for an estimated fee of 32 million pounds. Leicester betting on the Belgian midfielder is a good option considering his form.
Another winter transfer window is heating up, and the rumours related to the Belgian midfielder is also getting serious. Three or four clubs target the talented footballer as only 18 months is left in his current contract. So, it will force Leicester to sell him for a reasonable price or else he will walk out from the club for free. So, there will be temptations for the club to sell him if a club approaches with a decent selling price.
Tielemans started his professional career in Belgium with Anderlecht at the age of 16. On 2 October 2013, he became the youngest Belgian player to play in the UEFA Champions League, starting in a match against Olympiacos at the age of 16 years and 148 days. He played 29 games, of which 21 starts, as Anderlecht won the 2013–14 Belgian Pro League, scoring to open a 3–0 win over Club Brugge at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium on 6 April 2014. Tielemans won the Belgian Young Player of the Year award in each of his first two seasons.
In 2017, Monaco signed him for 25 million euros on a five-year deal. But his first half of the season was not so shiny, and France Football named Tielemans in their lists of the biggest flops of the first half of the season and the season overall. He only scored five goals in 47 matches for the French club in one and half years. Then he moved to England.
Within around two years, he has established himself in the starting XI of the Foxes.
Brendan Rodgers was also impressed with his performance. The most beautiful memory for him with the club will be when he scored the only goal of the 2021 FA Cup Final with a long-range strike against Chelsea in the 63rd minute, sealing Leicester’s first-ever FA Cup title. He was named the man of the match.
Three main clubs are leading the race to sign the Belgian youngster. Arsenal, Liverpool and Real Madrid. Out of these three, two clubs have a high chance of signing him. Liverpool and Arsenal. If he prefers to stay in the Premier League, then he will sign for any of these two clubs.
Jurgen Klopp needs a boost to his midfield after Gini Wijnaldum left as a free agent to PSG.
Tielemans’s stint at Leicester could soon be over, with coach Brendan Rodgers hinting at his potential exit in a recent press conference.
